Senior Produce Markets

Episcopal Senior Communities currently sponsors eight Senior Produce Markets, which provide access to fresh fruits and vegetables at wholesale prices. The Markets serve close to 450 seniors each week in the following locations:

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Oakland;

Oak Center Towers, ESC’s affordable housing community in West Oakland;

East Palo Alto Senior Center;

Burbank Heights and Orchards, affordable housing community in Sebastopol;

Pacific Meadows, affordable housing community in the Carmel Valley;

Avelina, affordable housing for seniors and families in Fremont;

Presidio Gate Apartments, ESC’s affordable housing community in San Francisco; and

Menlo Park Senior Center.

The Senior Produce Markets are sustained by the tremendous volunteers at each location. Nutrition and education programs are currently being developed to further serve the participants. Future market sites include the Redwood City Senior Center and a market in Richmond.

The Oak Center Towers Senior Produce Market was the recipient of the California Association of Homes and Services for the Aging 2003 Community Service Award.
